March 31, Saturday - Civil War Trust Park Day
LOCATION: Black Jack Battlefield & Nature Park
TIME: 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.
COST: Free
Help with "Spring clean -up" at various areas of the site. This
year's focus will be the Nature Park!
Come when you can, leave when you must.
Bring your own gloves.
No food or drink will be available.
Meet at the Robert Hall Pearson farmstead home.
May 5th, Saturday - Opening Day with John Brown
LOCATION: Black Jack Battlefield & Nature Park
TIME: 1:00 p.m.
COST: Free
Visit us opening day as the tour season kicks off when John Brown gives a guided tour of the battlefield.
Learn the history behind John Brown, the Battle of Black Jack, Bleeding
Kansas, and the role that the
Santa Fe Trail played in what some argue is the first battle of the American
Civil War.
1 p.m. tours on Saturdays and Sundays continue until October 21st.
June 2nd, Saturday - Dawn at Black Jack Battlefield
LOCATION: Black Jack Battlefield & Nature Park
TIME: 5:00 a.m. - 7 a.m. arrive
by 4:45 a.m.
COST: Free
Walk the Black Jack Battlefield at the exact day and time of the battle,
156 years later.
The guided tour will begin at the Robert Hall Pearson farmstead home.
August 18th & 19th Sat. & Sun. - John Brown returns to Black Jack
Battlefield
LOCATION: Black Jack Battlefield & Nature Park
TIME: 1:00 p.m.
COST: Free
Follow along with John Brown as he takes you on a guided tour of the Black
Jack Battlefield.
Event is in conjunction with the Lawrence Civil War on the Western Frontier.
October 20th & 21st, Sat. & Sun..- Maple Leaf Festival Tours
at Black Jack Battlefield
LOCATION: Black Jack Battlefield & Nature Park
TIME: 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. for Saturday
Additional tour @ 11 a.m. on Sunday (11, 1, & 3)
COST: Free
This is our last guided tour weekend for the 2011 season.
You may still visit us 365 days/year from dawn till dusk for self guided
tours.
In conjunction with the Baldwin City, Kansas Maple Leaf Festival.
