Robert Hall Pearson fought alongside of John Brown in the Battle of Black Jack. Later, he purchased land that included the battlefield from the Wyandotte Indians. He built this house overlooking the battlefield in the 1880's. His descendants lived in the house until preservation minded individuals purchased it and the battlefield in 2003.
