This week we took a huge step towards our goal of restoring our battlefield! Thanks to Heritage Land Services LLC for the tree removal! With the brush and trees removed from around the creek, the prairie where the battle took place can be viewed without obstruction. There's still a lot of work to be done to restore the prairie. We'll share progress with you as we work with Native Lands to complete this project!
Below are before photos. As you can see, the creek was not visible due to invasive plants that have taken over the prairie. This year we will work to remove invasive species, burn the prairie regularly, and reseed with wild native prairie plants.
